Spain’s Sports Tech ecosystem is experiencing an unprecedented surge, according to a new international report by the Global Sports Innovation Center (GSIC), powered by Microsoft, in collaboration with NBSO.
The study positions Spain as one of Europe’s fastest-growing markets, with projections estimating the sector will reach approximately €707 million by 2030, driven by a compound annual growth rate of 24%.
This expansion is underpinned by structural factors, including the modernisation of sports infrastructure, the widespread adoption of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, IoT, and data analytics, and the catalytic impact of major events like the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which is stimulating both investment and innovation.
Spain Emerges as a Strategic Hub for Sports Innovation
The report highlights Spain’s evolution from an emerging market into a mature innovation ecosystem, characterised by a strong culture of open innovation. Clubs, leagues, and institutions increasingly serve as testing grounds for new technologies, accelerating their validation and adoption.
Within this landscape, “smart venues” account for the largest share of the market, while data analytics and management solutions represent the fastest-growing segment. Together, these technologies are reshaping how sports organisations operate and engage with their audiences.
Spain’s strategic position is further reinforced by its role as a gateway to international markets, particularly across Europe and Latin America. Its advanced digital infrastructure and a startup ecosystem valued at over €110 billion strengthen its appeal as a global innovation hub.
Golfmanager at the Forefront of Golf Digitalisation
Against this backdrop, Golfmanager is identified as a standout example of Spanish technological innovation scaling internationally.
Its platform addresses a growing demand within the sector for tools that enable sports facility operators to digitise processes, enhance customer experience, and improve operational efficiency in an increasingly competitive environment.
The report also underscores the rise of sports tourism, particularly in disciplines such as golf, as a key driver accelerating the adoption of technological solutions across sports venues.
